@silver...most of the help i get in this forum is from jaymack.lol anyway editor i shoot raw and my raw processor gives me a 16bit 2page 12megapixel tif which i then edit in photoshop. i usually save in psd to preserve layers as i edit until i finally save as 8bit tif for print and i also keep create compressed jpegs for web use. gimp dont have the features i use and dat is why i use photoshop. i have tried gimp and paint.net etc

one thing I will say for jay, mack, hell try and help as much as he can untill the job is done, if he cant help he'll give instructions on where to get help, if he cant he wont answer, not like some of the fools on here who spout rubbish when they aint got a clue, trying to look clever

If you are creating high resolution pictures like banners, wall posters etc...then it obviously slow down the process....

funny how people want to attack jay.mack, when he is one of the few people on this forum that can offer sound advice on most problems with computers. He's actualy doing us a free service and asks nothing in return.

Image manipulation is hard on the CPU and even more when you have a weak GPU. Compressing, Decompressing, Converting, etc are all CPU intensive operations. Its just your Processor and GPU thats being worked during this operation thats why it slows down. Your RAM is enough but it also depends on your RAM's speed. Computers which are made for Image Editing are usually powerful.
