The cheap ones don't last very long and are subject to signal loss .The expensive ones just cost way to much for stuff like gold elcetroplating and thick copper wire that could carry 240 volts . So your safest bet is to buy a mid priced one that will last a few years .

As long as it is not massively long, then it makes zero difference. Standard cable like 2 metres 2 quid or 200 is the same. Its a con to think an expensive cable gives you better picture. It wont.

I spend upto 15 quid on HDMI cables, anything more than that is just a waste, imo. I only spend more if the cable looks like it is made better.

It is only when you are doing deep colour or 3D in a serious AV setup would you want to select the cable more carefully-a high speed one. Even then no need to blow a fortune if you don't have it for one of them. Its like a tenner for a HDMI 1.4 spec 2 metre high speed cable. 15 gigabit bandwidth.

As far as the cable goes its about the impedance. The cable will behave like a capacitor from signal to ground when AC signals pass down it. The capacitance in the cable will try to pass the signal to the outer ground screening conducter because capacitors allow AC signals to pass through hence the impedance or 'AC resistance'.

A cable with too low an impedance will suffer in high frequency responce and have poor bandwidth. Where as a cable with too high an impedance will suffer signal reflections and overshoot. In this case a terminating resistor should be added.

You just wrote a bunch of s**t which is of no use to anybody let alone the postwriter's specific question. So have a hug you wanted ![]() |

agreed with fujiyama, HDMI cables are all the same, whether its branded 2 quid TOMATO or 90quid MONSTER.. No difference in picture quality or audio.. Difference in price being the quality in the make.. Cheap cable have got soft skin like insulator wherelse the expensive ones use the more rugged one...
