help guys! how can i connect to the net without using (my phone as) a modem? i heard that i can use a data card but dont knw how to use it. any ideas and suggestions? |

You can get an hsdpa pcmcia card for your laptop. You use your sim card with it and it acts like a modem. Normal data tarrifs according to your network apply

Oh i forgot to mention that hsdsa is 2mbps. I think vodacom is currently the only network that offers this service

My boss has a MTN data card. I dont know about their rates though. I've asked him for details but he hasn't got back to me on that yet. But from what he said last time is that he pays R75pm and get 75meg pm. He uses it for work and according to him, never used up his megs. I guess that means free browsing but not sure. Boss aint too bright when it comes to pcs and cant tell me.

U can get data cards for gprs and 3g for all networks there easy to use and second hand off ebay from ten 2 thirty quid wiv cd rom etc

I phoned Mtn today to ask about it myself and its like this. You pay 75pm and get 73mb pm. Browsing is free so those megs are for downloads. Gotta pay 236 for sim and connection once-off. On the one package you can topup once the megs are used up. In effect, prepaid. The other package is contract, so when the megs are up, you can still use it but get a bill for the extra usage.
