battery heating kills the lifespan, best stop playing games and hand it back to your friend... heating can be down to the CPU GPU setup. if you're on a custom kernel sometimes a different CPU governor and i/o scheduler makes all the difference. |

Modern batteries should never drop below forty percent before being recharged and should be quickly disconnected from the charger after reaching one hundred percent. That's exactly why I prefer using a wireless charger, it will never over charge a battery.

no modern phone battery gets over charged. they have a cut off point where it stops receiving current. if you have a removable battery charge it up until it shows you 100 '/. then switch off your phone and take the battery out for 10 seconds. when you pop it back in and boot up it will often show around 90 '/. as it's designed to charge to that to protect the battery... |

when I say protect the battery I mean prolong it's lifespan...

am just shocked b'cause the Note 3 is one of the most powerful devices around, i mean a quad core cpu ,3 gb ram it shud run any graphc intensive apps with ease

try going to developer options and scrolling down to ''disable hardware overlays'' and ticking it. (it resets to default with every bootup) it makes the GPU alone draw graphics taking load off of the CPU. also an app like fastboot is good for closing all tasks before running a game. yes yes it's true that you have enough ram but background tasks contribute to CPU load which means more heat. can't think of anything else other than undervolting which isn't your choice to make here... |

@ tee4mac - 22.09.15 - 05:54pm am just shocked b'cause the Note 3 is one of the most powerful devices around, i mean a quad core cpu ,3 gb ram it shud run any graphc intensive apps with ease Lets be logical here, its a 2.3GHz Quad Core CPU, when you play a game it ramps up the CPU to 2.3GHz for a prolonged time, what do you think will happen? Most if not all high end phones with powerful CPUs heat up when playing 3D games. |

Most if not all high end phones with powerful CPUs heat up when playing 3D games. this is true polo but you might be surprised at how unnecessary that heat often is. on my s4 different roms and kernel settings produce very differing outcomes. I've used purpose designed gaming profiles that made the phone too hot to even hold, while others (I tweaked) produced no noticeable heat at all. the on demand CPU governor that's default on most phones is a bit cr*p imo... |

Very true Mel. I guess the manufacturers don't mess with it much as they want it to be balanced throughout different usage scenarios. What I do in my Note 4 is turn On CPU Power Saving, turn On Force GPU 2D Rendering and Disable Hardware Overlays, that helps balance out the CPU and GPU usage. But I hardly play heavy 3D games, even though I have some installed. |
