MediaTek phones run at lower frequencies and usually use low power CPU Cores e.g. older A7 CPU cores or newer A53 cores, their GPUs also run less cores at lower frequencies, so heating up should be less. The Snapdragon 800 CPU in the Note 3 was originally intended for high end 10inch Tablets, but profit yields in the tablet space are low and get lower yearly as most people keep tablets for much longer periods, so most of these high frequency CPUs with powerful cores get put into phablets and top end smartphones. I can bet if the Snapdragon 810 had been put in a nice 10-12inch tablet it would not have all the overheating problems it has in phones. Every Snapdragon and Exynos based phone I have owned heats up during 3D gaming, the Note 4 does it the least due to it being larger meaning more room to dissipate the heat, but it heats up regardless, thats why I like CPU Power Saving, the cores are capped but the phone still runs fast. |

not sure that tablet size alone helps when you consider the the shield tablet recall. that was due to such bad heating it was considered a fire risk if I'm not mistaken...
