I did a little digging around today and apparently it's because the Z1 doesn't have enough memory to support the Marshmallow update :( dam

I thought the Z1 was going to get 6.0. Will be a shame if it doesn't. Sad that many Snapdragon 800 phones like the Z1, Note 3, LG G2 etc...won't get Marshmallow, yet can easily handle it, as many 801 phones like the Galaxy S5, LG G3 and Xperia Z3 are getting it

Sony lock bootloaders globally, and if you unlock it the phone loses the DRM keys which ruin Camera performance, its the weirdest thing ever. Check here: http://www.androidorigin.com/sony-xperia-z-z1-z2-z3-unlock-bootloader-without-losing-camera-performance/

sounds similar to HTC's attitude to aftermarket mods, they also offer an unlocking service. I was confused as the link I posted as a raft of Z1 custom roms so unlocking shouldn't have been impossible for him. |

I checked with sonys bootloader unlocking software it said to go into them settings where you Dail the number. I did that and it said something like, bootloader unlockebl no I had two Xperia T's in the past. One bootloader could be unlocked but the other one couldn't.

That was exactly my thoughts polo. The Marshmallow update isn't even 1 gig and I thought this phone could easily manage that
