The T230 doesn't use Java, it uses a format called Morphun... Most older Sony Ericsson phones supported Morphun AND Java games and applications, the T230 however, only supported Morphun games and applications... Sony Ericsson have pretty much ditched the Morphun platform since, offering only Java in their phones.

I believe you're talking about the os....dont think there is any name for the os that non-smarts use....its just the brands' generic firmware for these phones.

Is that platform unique 2 se? How does it compare 2 the java midp phones?

Java support is just an add on to any operating system....whether that be this non-smart os or symbian or even windows. The os in itself is not java based.

As Clank had said, it's just an ADD-ON for any operating system that supports it... Put simply, it's one of the most popular file formats for games and applications on mobile devices; it has NOTHING to do with the operating system itself.

What profession r u guys? I'm well aware of the JVM (Java Virtual Machine) that reads java bytecodes ( which are the exe java .class files). I thought that the mobile phone os was was a specific type called java MIDP (like windows or unix or linux on a p.c.)

Actually the java implementation on handhelds is very similar to the virtual java machine we install on pcs only in this case it comes preinstalled. How well the java performs then depends on a variety of factors like the hardware and how well the mobile os communicates with the java platform. We have applets on pc and here we call them midlets.
