There has been some reports that 3.5 of the 8 gigs of ram in the ps4 will be reserved for the OS with 1 gig being flexible. 5.5 gigs of ram usable for game play bringing it into the same zone as Xbox one. That's a big advantage gone and if that extra power in the cpu is also for the OS this makes things an even fight. Well except for the 100 euro prise difference. |

Still only reports so far, but you've failed to mention the additional 1 gig of flexible RAM in addition to the 4.5 gigs available to developers. Who knows what Sony have up their sleeve as regarding what the OS can do in the background, could still mean good things for devs.

ya I mentioned the flexible gig. it's just alot of memory for an os, I think Xbox has 3 gigs. which would give the ps4 a 1.5 to 2.5 gig advantage also the ps4 uses a faster ram GDDR as to Xboxs DDR. which in comparison to this gen is a huge leap from 556Mb of ram cause they were made be cave dwellers.

PS4 has 4.5GB of usuable RAM for games with 512 mb flexible for paging, (virtual storage) and the like. The Xbone has a whopping 512MB advantage. Makes you worry about the latency (lag) PS4 games will potentially suffer from when that amount of flexible is being used to dump paging data on. Certainly at E3 there was a lot of jittery performances seen on the PS4, and most games only running 30fps.

you dont even know anything about how ram etc works and come up with this bull. the xbone ran on gtx 780 etc pc hardware thats why it looked better the xbox with 2ghz vram cant do s**t against 5ghz gddr5 and thats a fact

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-ps3-system-software-memory so much for your facts eh Alvar. And I suggest you take lessons in ram latency. Games on the PS4 can potentially suffer crippling input lag, if the ram isnt managed properly
