Storage media being a USB stick or external HDD...Maybe if ya connected ya phone by USB and put it into storage device mode, it'd detect it. I take no responsibility if ya fk up ya phone if ya try it, though.

What's said above might work. The PS3 has no drivers available to recognise your phone how you have it connected now.

You would have to find out which games require the updated firmware to run, because then, yeah, the game would come with the firmware on the disk.

You can do it. Back then I used my Samsung P1000 Tab back then. Just make a folder named PS3 - UPDATE - PS3UPDAT.PUP file. As long as your phone is able to be recognised as storage media and not a media device.

hi I did manage to get ps3 to find the update 4.5. I click on it and that percentage bar appears and I'm like yes lol it's updating but every time it gets to 19 percent complete it stops and says error. I'm not sure why it's doing that. iv got folder PS3 then in that a folder UPDATE with the ps3updat file 190mb. it's like a nightmare to get this working yeah lol any ideas?

You sure the download wasnt corrupted in any way.. why not transfer the update to a USB flashdrive? Or try doing it in recovery mode. Hold the ps3 power button down until the console goes on and then off again.. it will make 2 beeping noises and then boot into recovery mode I think. Just google the instructions as I stand under correction. The do the update via that screen. Only reason I can think of is that the file you downloaded was corrupted. Hope this helps

That error means it can't read the software update, they recommend to download it and try again or try again using a different external media device, you won't have any problems if you use a fat32 formatted USB stick

Just checked now.. the latest firmware is 4.55 which is 194mb.. not 190.. which means the download was incomplete. Redownload and try again buddy
