If your having problems with your new 4, there are a couple of things you can do. First, hold it above the two small black lines on the bottom. |

Second, you can also put tiny pieces of tape over the bars, though holding it a little makes more sense to me. Or use a case. You can also install a Zagg skin, which should cover them.

It is most likely a software glitch in the new iOS4, NOT a hardware problem. You are getting reception, it's just for some reason it's not showing in the bars. The reason it's most likely a software glitch and not hardware is because the same problem is being seen on 3G and 3GS with the update.

When reputable sources checked the problem with iPhone 3G, 3GS, and 4-the bars dropped, but, no calls were dropped. So, don't fall for some haters making issues out of nothing.

The best way to see your true reception is by entering field test mode and get the dBi number. -50 to -85 is a strong to good reading. The closer 0, the better.

The problem is it does drop calls witchy baby. Watch jon rettinger's YouTube video. On top I haven't read any news about the 3 or 3GS having any such issues with the iOS 4. So evidently it's not a software glitch.

Witch as much as I love you I'm sorry but I have to disagree with you on this one, no way should I be expected to hold my phone different, apply tape to it or buy a cover just to solve a major design flaw. I love everything about the iPhone 4 but this is a serious problem, how would you feel if you bought a tv and it didn't get signal? You phone up the makers to be told you have to put it in a certain place or you need to buy a cover for it? It's no coincidence Apple released those bumpers th

This time round, they haven't bothered before so why now? It's ridiculous, @ akash there is reports of some people replicating the problem on 3G and 3GS although I haven't managed to on mine

Yeah sorry, my bad guys. Just googles it and there seem to be a few 3GS on iOS 4 with the same issue. So may be it's just a software problem after all which can be fixed quickly.

If it was happenng with the 3GS then we would have heard about it before the release of the iPhone4.
