Seems to sound lot brighter now, also noticed a bit of more hum. But definitely better sound.

Similiar question in a guitar mag. Answer: the EMG pickups n pre-amp circuits run at an extremely low current drain so there is no need to run more than 1 battery unless you want to. The advantage of running 2 9v (volt) batteries wired 4 18v is that u get slightly more headroom in your tone and the batteries will last longer. EMG products can handle up to 27v but you wont see any benefit over 18v

They say the same in couple of other forums. But I think that longer battery life applies only if they're wired in parallel instead of series like in this mod.
