Hip-Hop was born in Africa so as poetry. B4 Shakespear dey were gr8 poets from Africa n these poets neva used a pen n a paper bt usd de the brain n the mouth 2 make RHYTHMe n rhymes 4 de kings praise songs. From Africa, hip-hop went 2 Jamaica n den it landed in America. Now hip-hop is everywhere. if u want real hip-hop try de origin u'll find it? |

the modern form of hip hop was 'born' in the late 80's if i remember correctly you gotta be deaf if you say that african music sounds even close to hip hop.

Thnx 4 de spellin correction. Anyway dats nt de point, am proud hip-hop has reacht a high level in de music industry frm jungle music 2 internationally recognisd music. Different races luv hip-hop music n dats de fact. The other fact is hip-hop cn be mixt wit other musical genres which meks it unique. Though hip hop originatd frm Africa i stil enjoy hip-hop from other continents as well.

Metal-Classical, Folk, Electronic, Hiphop, Punk, saying hiphop is unique because it can be mixed with other genres is wrong.

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hip_hop_music ''Hip hop as music and culture formed during the 1970s when block parties became increasingly popular in New York City, particularly among African American and Latino youth residing in the Bronx''

''However, the roots of spoken hip hop music are found in African-American music and ultimately African music, particularly that of the griots of West African culture''

i guess the actual 'origin' could be either of the two, depending on how you see it
