A hot bed of Pioneering rock and heavy rock music. Birmingham produced - Black Sabbath, Judas Priest,Led Zeppelin. It was the birth place of Thin Lizzy lead singer Phil Lynott - The wider Midlands gave us Lemmy of Hawkwind and Motorhead. What other area can stand up to the West Midlands influence on rock music? |

And the great thing was that you could go see them live when no-one had heard of them and without having to move your backside much further than the bus stop, happy days . AND I also bought Plant a pint in a Kinver pub, but I might already have mentioned that.. about a thousand times.

UB40 were also from Birmingham and prior to all the Red Red Wine, Kingston Town covers, they were a very good band.

@9362 - without doing a Wiki search which'd make me look much cleverer than I am, I think, yes, Page and JPJ were from 'elsewhere' (as we call it in the Midlands) but I'm PRETTY sure Bonham was a Black Country lad, as indeed was Percy..
