I've currently got the JVC HA-V570 headphones. Probably not the best compared to the more expensive ones but thought i'd mention it while i'm in here. Also, bought a pair of Sony earphones recently but one of the earphones has stopped working for some reason. Anybody know why this might be?

@atlant1s - could be a break in the wire at some point, that's usually the cause of one channel disappearing. A good way to check if this is the case is to put 'em on (with some music playing obviously) and grip each part of the wire tightly between forefinger and thumb inch by inch all the way up, if the sound suddenly appears through the dead speaker you've got a broken wire.

The HD555s are excellent btw to be honest, when you're purchasing headphones at this price point and above, you're going to get good quality, the type of sound from different manufacturers and headphone styles are down to personal preference. I think I prefer open to closed. Oh, and comfort, I forget I'm wearing these, really nice.
