Less than 5'/. of americans have ever eaten or tasted a blackcurrant. The cultivation of blackcurrants was banned in the US for many years right up until the early 2000s due to them carrying an invasive fungus that destroyed White Pine trees. They are now grown commercially on a small scale in some parts of the US after new disease free varieties became available and the restrictions were lifted but the American public doesn't seem to have developed much of a taste for them yet. |
