The problem was the brace in the middle that held the two bits of pole together... No matter what I tried the fkn thing just would not stay on the wall. Every time I hung the curtains, their weight would just pull the whole lot down. After keeping cool the first few attempts, I lost the nut, opened the window and fkd the curtain poles out of them spear style as far as they would go into next doors croft...

Anyway, yesterday bought a brand new curtain pole from argos, cost me less than 20quid, 15 minutes and Hey Presto! Job done!!!
