When this topic was made, the biggest was probably tiny. Probably where i stabbed myself through the hand with a screwdriver. But i've beaten that record since. The biggest one now will be inside somewhere, as i smashed half my ribs out, causing multiple counts of internal bleeding which didn't stop for 5 days. One of my ribs went through one of my lungs, so probably that one. Lungs are supposed to have holes in, though. |

It was all amalgamated. I couldn't pinpoint individual organs, only feeling rogue bones clicking and moving about. The pain was ludicrous wherever it was, at times i'd slept long enough to come off the Tramadol, at least at home. But i stayed as numb as i could. In hospital it was all easy after theatre. Theatre was not easy, i was mostly conscious and feeling the operations. Varying attempts to get all my bones in place by blowing up my lungs, with a pipe in my mouth.. But after that i was quite comfortable in hospital, just a drain pipe out my armpit, filling a big square tank. I deteriorated at home because i didn't have the recliner bed. Laying down wasn't good, i kept getting stabbed by my own ribs when i had to move. I couldn't get comfortable or do anything for myself. I'd discharged myself against doctor's advice, and it was foolish. But that's just how i was. I went back to work on pretty much zero duty just two months later, just to be there. I'd half lost the will to live, so i had to. I still had a couple of clicking bones at this point, some took ages to fuse. I was out riding a bike after three months, though even an hour killed me. But it's what you've gotta do. You've gotta get back up. About a year and a half later i ran to Leighton Buzzard and back, which was a full marathon. Today, and the only pain is when i sit back in a hard-back chair - as i still have a couple of lumpy joins in my ribs near my spine. |

Sounds rough. It's the lung bit that scares me though

First time I went through a window my left arm got torn from my elbow to 3 quarters up my bicep, I freaked out and ran to my mum who was next door with my arm sticking out and the flap hanging down caught the fence post and tore it even further. My sister says she still has nightmares about that. Second time it was my face but I was older then so didn't freak out, just picked up the bit of sliced jawbone up out the glass incase they wanted it at the hospital.

Can't say i've had any particularly gorey injury traumas, smashing a knee playing rugby at school was probably the worst. I've witnessed a few other people being injured in various traumatic fashions though. Saw a mate get his foot mangled up and half torn off attempting to jump onto a moving fairground carousel. A kid in the year above me at high school took a javelin to the head on our school's annual 'sports day' one year, they had to saw it off and flew him to hospital in an air/sea rescue helicopter with the tip still embedded in his skull. This one stays with me to this day; we'd been playing football on the local playing fields when this one kid starts showing off by swinging and climbing on the crossbar, he was sat with one leg either side of the bar when he lost balance and slips off sideways catching his knackers on one of those little hooks for holding the net in place, ripping open his scr*tum and leaving him with his left bo11ock hanging out down the side of his leg. |

All Black Buck Shelford got his scr*tum torn open in a match leaving the test*cle hanging out. They just sewed it back up on the side of the pitch and he went back on to finish the game.
