@ mikeymk - 12.09.14 - 07:47am I agree. I honour November 11th because it is to remember the biggest fight in known history, with literally millions of people killed. Events since are comparatively minor - I see some can't comprehend how I can say 'minor' or 'just' but compared to what goes on in the world the likes of 9/11 are a typical body count. We can't stand in silence every time something happens. Here in Britain, small island, alcohol alone kills the 9/11body count every single day. But the only silence they get is when millions are taking a sip of booze. I don't know people who died in war, i knew people who died on the Zebrugge ferry, that's far closer to home for me personally, I don't expect anyone to remember it. These of course are irrelevant. But are they? Millions of people die every year. 9/11 was a huge shock, it was tragic. But my point is that the death toll is not the main issue, even if it's being used as the main issue. It's the fact that they were mass murdered and the amount of murders in one incident does contribute to the size of the tragedy, unlike alcoholics who choose to destroy their body and kill themselves because of it - their choice. |
