Russia has commenced air strikes in Syria and it seems they're not just targeting isis, they appear to be hitting all of Assad's enemies, including those that the west and Arab countries are supporting...we're all doomed... |

A US defence official said: A Russian official in Baghdad this morning informed US embassy personnel that Russian military aircraft would begin flying anti-Isil (IS) missions today over Syria. He further requested that US aircraft avoid Syrian airspace during these missions. US state department spokesman John Kirby told reporters: The US-led coalition will continue to fly missions over Iraq and Syria as planned and in support of our international mission to degrade and destroy Isil (IS).

There are serious questions about who exactly the Russian aircraft are targeting. US officials believe that the initial Russian strikes are not in IS-held territory, raising the possibility that Russian air power is being utilised more in the form of close air support for Syrian government forces against the multiple enemies of the Assad regime. Of course, many of these enemies are supported by the West's Arab allies or Turkey.

bloodi good job n all shame we haven't got someone like Putin running our country, he's a man who does the right thing and doesn't care what anyone thinks, I like his attitude towards foreigners living in Russia as well, you want Russia, Russia doesn't want you, we aren't changing for you and if u don't like it then you can go back to your own country. it's a shame there aren't more like Putin in this world.

I do beleive russia has an aircraft carrier in the Mediterranean from its black sea fleet, or in theory they could fly over international waters from the black sea into the Med then straight into syria. If they were to fly in via iran it would mean they would have to fly over the area of iraq that the u.s coalition is currently flying in so doubt they'd of took that route |
