Do you think it's time pensioners should have to pay the bedroom tax? Imagine an elderly couple living in a 2 bedroom house, one dies so the other is occupying a house with more rooms than they need.

If someone, say an unemployed person on 77 quid a week can seemingly afford to pay it then why can't someone on 110 pounds state pension afford to pay it?

I don't think they should have to pay the bedroom tax by the way! Just wondered what others think.

Depends if THEY are paying it. As with bedroom tax generally. You don't pay bedroom tax, never did - the taxpayer does. If it's your own property you're exempt. Pensioners should be put into suitable accommodation, if they're being carried by the taxpayer. Nothing immoral about that. If it's their own property, obviously they can have as many empty rooms as they wish, and only Corbyn is a threat to that.. |

I agree that pensioners should be put in suitable accommodation.

Everyone pays tax. Doesn't mean they can be left to increasingly waste it. For what? They needed three bedrooms, they're now on their own, but we still gotta pay for the previous two residents for what, exactly..? When we have new dwellings to pay for elsewhere now? |
