@ mikeymk - 9.11.18 - 07:32pm Yeah, 1951-2001 was a good half-century. If people could just stop global warmongering, that'd be great. The cold war sounded pretty amazing tbf |

I wouldn't be surprised if someone asked the same question in the seventeenth century. The experience is the same, only the dreams and goals change. 1287 was alright.

@ eyesore - 9.11.18 - 05:13pm Do you think we're lucky to be living through these times .....or would you prefer to of lived in another period of history isn't that some kind of curse / insult ? whenever you were born you're living at the cutting edge of technological advancement, even if that's flint napping. |

@ slick_01 - 10.11.18 - 01:18am I wished I could have lived amongst the Roman Gladiators....and perhaps battled in the Colosseum This shows your extreme want to have some kind of celebrity status. You dont have it now and you wouldn't have had it back then. Truth is you're a fantasist |

@ eyesore - 9.11.18 - 05:13pm Do you think we're lucky to be living through these times .....or would you prefer to of lived in another period of history In a way we may be unlucky in that we know or can imagine how much more advanced we're going to become but that we won't be alive to see it. It's different from hundreds of years ago where they were at the cutting edge of their time but may not have necessarily had the imagination that we have access to via movies, CGI, the infancy of space travel etc. Transhumanism, interstellar travel, limitless energy, these are all concepts we can imagine but will probably never be alive for. I think that's the main difference between us and past civilizations, I'm not sure they could imagine these concepts even though I'm sure they were happy with the technology they had. |
