Rugby union is Great Britains most Conservative and most privileged team sport, while rugby league is the most Labour and most deprived, new data analysis has revealed. The countrys main team sports each come with their own founding story and according fan stereotype. Cricket is the sport of Middle England and rugby league is the one of the M62. Football is the sport of the working classes, whereas rugby union is the sport of public schools and Hooray Henries. Like all stereotypes, theyre a little prejudicial and dont tell the whole story - but it turns out data does back them up to some degree. The Reach Data Unit looked at the home grounds of every cricket, football, rugby league and rugby union club that takes part in a national league. |

It then analysed both voting patterns in the local parliamentary constituency, and deprivation levels in the local neighbourhood. Rugby union emerged as the most Tory team sport in Great Britain. Some 40 per cent of the sports stadiums in England, Scotland and Wales are located in constituencies which voted Conservative in the last election. Thats the highest percentage out of any of the countrys major team sports, and compares to just 3 per cent of rugby league stadiums, 29 per cent of football stadiums and 33 per cent of cricket stadiums. |

https I'm surprised at the amount of data and research there is to show a connection of Rugby with the Conservative party. |
