The punishment is for breaches of salary cap regulations

Failed to disclose payments to players in the last 3 seasons and also exceeded the limit on payments to senior players in the same time period

Not a Sarries fan at all but they are contesting it and I can see why. There has long been precedence for investment partnerships and portfolios for players that exist outside their contracted salary. 35 points is ridiculous.

@ 9362 - 6.11.19 - 11:40am Most of their league opponents seem to think otherwise Well they would. I would as well if I was them and not able to compete with the financial incentives being offered. |

@ kipling - 6.11.19 - 11:49am Elliot Daly who left wasps end of last season to join saracens said he was taking a pay cut on joining his new team ,,Yeah right .... Daly was going to leave Wasps no matter what. He had been obviously unhappy with the club and it's facilities and direction for at the whole of last season and probably the one before. It's the reason a lot of players have left Wasps. Daly wants to win titles and trophies and he won't do that at Wasps. His contracted wage is less than what he was getting but Wray has also undoubtedly set him up a lucrative property portfolio as well. |

@ propidol - 6.11.19 - 12:55pm Well they would. I would as well if I was them and not able to compete with the financial incentives being offered. Isn't it all to do with the salary cap though? If they have obeyed it and sarries haven't? |

@ bozzalad - 6.11.19 - 02:15pm how the fk is a wage cap legal I think a few sports have it, nfl certainly does |

@propidol | 6 November 19 | |
@ bozzalad - 6.11.19 - 02:15pm how the fk is a wage cap legal It is yeah and Sarries argue that the business portfolios that Nigel Wray and his team put together for the players are not part of their wages. That they are an exterior concern for the players that will be there for when they retire. Other teams do it as well and the ones that don't, should. |
