@ gt_tdi - 3.07.19 - 11:36pm I prefer them to calzones. Most of the 'calzones' sold in the UK are actually Stromboli. A calzone should come with the sauce served separately(for dipping or to pour over the top of the calzone), where as a stromboli should have the sauce on the inside so it oozes out when you cut it, like molten lava from the aforementioned volcano after which they were named.(foody_nerd.gif) |

@ obi_jon - 4.07.19 - 09:51am Best check your flight then, I haven't heard about any air traffic problems but volcanic ash can be a big problem for aircraft. I'll check tonight but im flying with Ryanair so they'll probably just fly through anything |

@ obi_jon - 4.07.19 - 09:55am The pilot's are probably well used to dodging volcanic ash around Sicily though, what with Mt Etna being pretty active and all. I saw Mt Etna while flying in to Malta, theres a constant plume from it seems fairly small and contained |

@ sisfreak2017 - 4.07.19 - 01:14pm Take a parachute Dan. Just spoke to my mate who's already out there, he says they cant even see it. We're seated on the left hand side of the plane so hopefully I'll be able to see the ash plume as we come in to land |

Just been speaking to my mother who has just got back from a Mediterranean cruise. Apparently their ship had sailed from Malta to Naples, passing through the straits between Sicily and Italy before sailing right past Stromboli on the way up. They missed the eruption by a few days.
