@ 3mel - 5.06.20 - 10:44pm I'm not looking at trump exclusively in relation to Hong Kong, but Mike Pompeo apparently said they'd remove Hong Kong's status as a separate territory from China. they're screw*ng you guys regardless. I'm not so sure about that since recently on the Tianmen masscare memorance day, Pompeo actually criticized mainland, saying they were denying Hong Kongers a voice and a choice, ''making them the same as mainlanders. So much for two systems'' It's also in US's best interests to support Hong Kong as separate territory. In fact various accusations surfaced about how many Pro Hong Kong protestors were funded by foreign sympathizers particularly from the USA. With all that said, yes, we're being screwed, no doubt about it, but Trump is the least of our concern. In fact I appreciate his guts to stand toe to toe against China. This by no means mean I like the president whatsoever. |

@ 3mel - 5.06.20 - 09:53pm if the template trump has laid down gets followed we'll be moving backwards as a whole. fake bravado and posturing from politicians will eventually destroy international dialogue and push us back into more hostilities. there's a whole bunch of republican politicians aping trump and his style now selling the idea that all problems can fixed with a hammer. Most Republicans were scathing of trump and then realized he could win ...and swung around quick I've yet to hear a supporter of trump be coherent or speak with conviction ( unless it's borderline hate speech) His rhetoric is empowering the police and importantly DAs to wield that hammer |

it seems that his desire to put soldiers on the streets is a step too far for many of his allies. even his current defence secretary Mark Esper came out against it publicly. Pat Robertson the grifting preacher made a video trying to talk him down. for different types of reasons this current turn actually unites many conservatives who hate government overreach along with the rest of the country. that said many cops are dug in mentally now. there's no apologising your way out of clear brutality. |

I read earlier that it takes 12 weeks to train a Minneapolis police officer and he gets a badge and a gun ... To put this in perspective a Metropolitan police officers training is two years .... For a badge |
