And there's a trend (in my suburban area) where white people are selling and moving out and black people are buying mansions (my left and right neighbours are black (millionaires) as well as this adjacent home to the one).. the 'rise of the black diamonds' (i.e. middle class) as they call it. But I'm glad to be living amongst them. Just like us but different skin colour that's all.. but institutionalised racism was enforced to make it happen. That's what I'm against.

(writer of the aforementioned text does not live in a mansion and never has, home and foundations has been in existence since pre-1994 levels when homes where selling for cheap).

@ tranie - 14.01.20 - 04:13pm some people believe that b0110x because its easier than admiting they themselfs are fk ups i dont know where this white priviledge is, iv never seen any of it. I do know 1 thing for sure, it was because i am white that i didnt get a job as a fireman. This white priviledge stuff was working against me then. If i was black or asian then not a problem. Would of got a job right away. So maybe it should be considered a BAME Priviledge ? I was told by a Station Commander that i had no chance of employment because i'm a white male. I didn't even get an application pack. He said if i was gay, female, or brown i'd be fast-tracked - but that Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue were not even considering white males. The reason being government targets for culture percentages (too many white males already in the service). |

@ tazdevil - 14.01.20 - 09:00pm It's not bullsh*t, sweetheart. This 'privilege' thing we are talking about is actually the prejudice enacted by the group in majority to the group in minority that face massive legal and cultural inequalities/discrimination. I know in my country, sometimes certain people are promoted simply based on their caste/religion. It's not so much a person getting something, but it's more who they are so they may have advantage (better word than privileged) over other people. I guess it all depends on your situation ultimately. I may be privileged in some ways, and you might be in other ways - but the bottom line is, not everybody is treated equally. Certainly not in England absolutely no legal or cultural discrimination here generally. There is still a Glass ceiling for white women sadly in business but apart from that it's not too bad. Gay people are not generally discriminated against. There is some rich privilege but not white privilege. Some black people just seem obsessed with playing the race card at every opportunity and some whites think we should constantly apologise for things what happened decades ago |

Just because you don't see it or it doesn't happen to you personally doesn't mean it doesn't exist

Grew up in a white working class area, live in one now, I've never seen any white privilege. Encountered a few bits of racism throughout the years but that's it nothing special. So yes I do feel it is grossly exaggerated

https://vimeo.com/384890835 At around 1:21 mark, that's me, in the blue suit. Winning my prize for distinction grade in law school in a school filled with Chinese kids with me being in the extreme minority. Nope, no Privilege, no unfair treatment, no racism, just merit driven by hard-work, and I got there. Anyone can. |

So maybe it should be considered a BAME Priviledge ? it's a concept from America where the police don't patrol white neighbourhoods, where a traffic stop results in a drug search based on your colour. I'm paraphrasing cops saying this btw. you don't stop the white kids buying drugs, you never know who their daddy is, could be a judge. instead you go hassle someone who isn't white. |

I should feel sorry for you? Dude, how can you ask me for that when you haven't even tried to earn my respect?
