I go to work in the dark. I go home in the dark. My 'office' is a desk in a store room which has no windows, so i rarely see daylight even when working day shifts. My sleep covers 8am-3pm when i'm working nights, so no daylight in my day then, either. Add to that, switching days to nights - it wrecks your body clock, complete opposite turnover, like having full jet lag every week. There's no recovery. And all in permanent darkness. It creeps up on you. Months go by, and you don't realise the effect, as you battle to stay sane in a vampire world with no regularity, like a Batman movie, it's just a chaotic life in the dark. Take me back to those commutes cycling through sunny meadows.. Stopping in the beer garden on the way home.. I like a bit of night time when it's peaceful, but i really need out of this tunnel before i go mad. And yet, what's this arriving tomorrow? Oh, February - more of the same, only colder... |

You should probably supplement your vitamin D intake then mikey, the body requires sunlight in order for it to produce enough of it naturally on it's own.

Seems I get most of mine from milk, which I get through quite a lot of. Especially in winter. I think that saves me. I recon I do over a pint a day on average. I eat eggs, but mostly without the yolks. So I should stop throwing the yolks away. It's just easier to boil whole trays, and eat them as snacks, but I don't like cold, hard yolks. So I might eat them differently. I often do salmon when the brat's here, she loves it baked in butter. But otherwise I don't do enough fish. |
