@ 3mel - 18.06.21 - 07:14pm raising awareness among the public or among decision makers in no way speaks to a prohibition. that's still your own conjecture, that thing you're not gonna do. 'Prevention of drinking' isn't conjecture, it's what they wrote. |

and it doesn't indicate any prohibition.

no need to explain the obvious, the word prevention applies just as successfully to enacting a program based increasing awareness in the hopes of reducing incidents, those types of terms were explicitly used. crime prevention is a good analog though, it's a series of measures that are hoped to deter and reduce crime, crime prevention methods haven't ended the existence of crime though. if it truly is as draconian as sensationalist headlines are painting it you'd think they'd have taken the trouble to address it specifically and directly because there would most definitely be questions. beyond your attempt to cling to a single word it's just not there that you've managed to find is it ? |

Pretty much all alcoholic beverages sold in the UK carry this health warning or some other similar variant of it somewhere on their labels/packaging already. I'm not sure if this is required by law, or if it's a voluntary label taken up by pretty much the whole UK brewing industry. I could see them being made mandatory(if they're not already) or perhaps their shape/size/format being standardized etc, like they did with cigarette/tobacco warnings, before they banned all tobacco branding/advertising on the packets entirely and put them all in identical packaging covered in nothing but warnings. |

So basically.. the WHO made a statement that was almost entirely redundant. What a surprise.
