The 13yr old schoolgirl and talented mathematician who played a pivotal role in helping design the guns used by the RAF in the Spitfires and Hurricanes that won the Battle of Britain.salute.gifbritish.gifpilot.gif
It was Hazel, whilst assisting her aircraft designer father, who made the critical calculations which persuaded the RAF to install an upgraded 8 cannon system to their fighter aircraft, rather than the 6 cannons that were originally planned, widely regarded as having provided the Allied pilots with the critical offensive advantage that ultimately enabled them to defeat their German counterparts.
Yes that's right, if it wasn't for this one 13yr old girl, the Battle of Britain(which began 80yrs ago today) and perhaps Britain itself, would have been lost to the Nazis.
