@ 3mel - 20.07.20 - 06:27pm everyone has a credit rating. you don't have to have done anything for yours to exist. it's improved or lowered everytime you apply for something involving money. I don't think he's wrong by saying he has no credit rating as I've heard on multiple occasions of young folk being turned down for everything because they have ''no credit rating'', including myself when I was younger. Maybe that's just a SA thing. I had to open a cheque account to start getting a credit rating. I was only able to get a cheapo phone contract six months later. Was the same for almost everyone I know, we would always talk about how stupid it was that you can't make debt if you don't already have debt. If someone didn't tell me about the cheque account thing, I'd probably have struggled for years... We won't talk about what I eventually did to my credit record though lol |

I hear what you're saying, but he applied for life insurance and then scuppered it. he might've created consequences in a now existing rating. being in the system in ways that are preferred is a must, if you're not registered to vote, getting money into a bank account regularly etc, they can't securely attach debt to your identity. |

I think my start from zero was probably the car loan. I was 18. 2000 quid loan at 18yo, when i earned 8000 quid a year, that was a lot for a first borrow. I'd had a bank account of sorts since i was 14 and my Ford Escort's insurance at 17 had to be paid up front because i was under 18. But the following year i borrowed the two grand to buy a 4yo MG Metro, tax and insure it. |

It used make a tink notice when hitting the hills , got it crypton tuned and it ran like a dream ... |

@ 3mel - 21.07.20 - 08:03am I hear what you're saying, but he applied for life insurance and then scuppered it. he might've created consequences in a now existing rating. being in the system in ways that are preferred is a must, if you're not registered to vote, getting money into a bank account regularly etc, they can't securely attach debt to your identity. It wouldn't matter in SA unless he missed a payment. If it did affect him, it'll only leave a temporary mark for 3 to 6 months. SA is different. They changed a lot of credit records and debt related laws in order to improve poverty. |

Keep getting regular calls from an automated caller using lots of different numbers. The calls are pretending to be informing me of a possible fraudulent transaction on one of my cards. Does anyone actually fall for this sheoite? Blocked them all, but it seems they've an inexhaustible ammount of mobile numbers at their disposal. |

a couple of weeks ago I got an automated call saying please call this number to speak to such and such person at the inland revenue. they said this is urgent and contact your solicitor as you'll want to have them with you when you get a meeting. failure to respond on-time could lead to serious legal consequences. the very end of the message was almost gloating in an attempt to put fear into you, but it made it obvious this was nothing remotely professional if my supposed tax debt was being taken personally by the representative. I went into my call log and long pressed the number to copy it, then I pasted that by itself into a google search. it came up as quite a prevalent scam call all from the same phone number. always google the phone number of dodgy sounding calls folks. |

I like to ask these scam callers if they want to buy a coat.
