If you find something and keep it, that's legally theft in the UK. I'm not sure what the situ is with litter picking. If you pick up an empty crisp packet and walk off with it, that's theft. The police/magistrates can charge you without the owner pressing charges, too. If it's not yours, you cannot legally take something. TFW Kipling is the new king of Pro theivery.. |

years ago when I used drink a pub with LOTS of dealers, some guy got very lucky. the police decided to drive into the car park once in a while and then drive out the other entrance. guess they were looking for the exact reaction one guy gave them. he saw the police and took off running but figured to empty his pockets as he ran so there'd be nothing on him. can't remember who it was but one of the regulars saw the bag of pills and claimed it. |

@ kipling - 14.07.20 - 06:50pm I've found quite a bit of money when I have been at work , but today I found a big bag of weed , I've been told a retail value of 250 quid ... What things have you been lucky to find in any circumstance ? I'd dump all that weed in the dustbin to be honest. not worth smoking garbage, or using any illicit substances for that matter. I dunno also to the second part of your question; whatever I find, I try to find the original owner. Usually it's at Uni, which is why I usually drop it off at the security. I'd take an earphone once because mine were broken, and I would be too bored on bus back home. |

Did you know even appropriating something from someone's garbage dump can be classed as unlawful appropriation amounting to theft? Another one; a guy left charity items in front of the charity shop because it was closed, another homeless man came by and appropriated the items before the shop opened. The homeless guy was indicted for theft because the items were intended for the charity shop, and not him. |

One of my brothers had to go to court for finding a cordless drill that someone had dropped in a DIY store's car park. |
