@ obi_jon - 31.07.20 - 12:47pm ....... Religion and the law? No. Yes. I have no problem with the Scottish proposals, if they include all so called 'holy' books, not just the bible. You are supportive of laws that legislate what people can think and/or believe. How utterly draconian. And you like to go on about Trump being a facist. |

@ obi_jon - 31.07.20 - 12:53pm It looks to me like the bishops you mentioned actually want their 'holy book' to be excluded/exempt from the proposed new laws. I suspect they wouldn't give a sh*t if it was targeted solely at 'holy books' other than their own. Would Muslims have acted differently in a Pakistan? Last I heard they were burning cars when there was threat to religion from a drawing; which 10 years from then approximately, resulted in the ECThr saying; any insult to the holy books is a punishable offence. Or any religious group for that matter. Doesn't it bother you that the state can decide what you say and think and prosecute you on those merits accordingly? Do you think that you being an Atheist puts you above these laws? |

@ vampboy - 31.07.20 - 12:55pm I can only hope you specifically aren't. But the majority trend to support legislations that allow the state to dictate what is offensive or not is equally worrying; Do you agree that it is? That'll give me a better picture if you answer. I support freedom of speech in art, music, literature etc. I don't want govt interference in those things. Imo people should be able to express themselves through the arts. Even if the pics, books, what they say goes against my beliefs. |

Do you think that you being an Atheist puts you above these laws? No, and it was a religious member of the public that shot the person facing the blasphemy charge. Yes, see above. It might if I lived in a country with an ostensibly non-secular government and legal system, or if being an atheist was being deemed into law as being offensive to religious people, which it's not. |

If there was no religion you would still get evil people doing evil things, but because of religion we have good people doing evil things.

@ vampboy - 31.07.20 - 12:26pm Why are you posting that link here? What's the relevance? Do you have a point there somewhere? He's being islamophobic again |

I can't believe you read the sentence 'Bishops fear owning a Bible could be hate crime under new Scots law' and gave this legitimatacy... Scotland has an issue with flute tooting f*gg*ts that refuse to behave when the footy is on. Secular sectarianism, if you could believe it. It's honestly tiresome that they would even feel the need to make laws to target these degenerates but there you go |
