Blaming the covid time problems on brexit is just manipulating things to fit a narrative. I wish my country would exit the EU. Having a even bigger government dictating from far not knowing sh*t about the local ways is the worst. What happened to EU just being trade and freedom of movement between seperate national countries? That was what our president at the time of joining believed it was.

Heartfelt letter off an ex lorry driver, explaining why he would never go back to the industry. https://amp.lbc.co.uk/news/you-couldnt-pay-me-enough-lorry-driver-explains-why-no-one-wants-to-drive-trucks/ |

Here in MK we had a few places for truckers including Fen Farm, Welcome Break and Crawley road, all just off the M1 motorway near J14. The rest of MK was barren, i guess they had all manner of places welcome them as it was an upcoming customer base with acres of space. Now they park on public roads in industrial estates, they actually have marked bays but it's all wrong because traffic can't pass them easily. Places like Tongwell, Kingston and Brinklow, all by the M1 motorway, have trucks lining the streets now. These roads weren't designed to be used as lorry parks, any more than the trucks were designed to be used as traffic calming islands... The drivers sit on the grass verge, chatting with one another, on their own bloody plastic chairs. Usually in Polak. The council don't mind putting litter bins out for them, but we stop at benches! And i wonder if there lies the problem. It was all catered for when it was our guys. But nobody cared about the foreign truckers. Then they became the majority, and the hospitality turned to shit. Truckers always had groups standing for them. There's just the URTU and where the fk are they atm..? Once half the drivers were foreigners, it was easier to fk them off to the sidelines. I'm embarrassed about the way continental truckers have been treated. I'm embarrassed for Britain, how we look at the moment, for the situation with how they've been treated. And to throw them temporary visas... fkn 'ell... And i'm not one to feel embarrassed for others. Brexit didn't mean treating our European friends like shit. They were always welcome, just as drivers from all over the world were, and are. It's fkn remoaners in places of power doing this. That and the racist yobbos who think they have a right, now. |
