Getting called duck and love by other grown men happens a lot and it's a combination of regional and generational dialect. It's not an issue and I don't feel like I am.being chatted up lol.

I like the regional stuff,i got called c0cker the other week n it just takes me back to my childhood.i also like bab for the same reason

i call nearly every woman i meet, either love,babe or doll. Not trying to chat them up, just something iv always done.

my dad used to call men cocker and women queen, which i always found a bit strange

Cringey. If someone calls me 'luv' it's invariably a northerner. Whether she's saying it to me, or a guy is saying it to a woman, it strikes a bit of a bum note with me.
It doesn't go so far as to bother me, but it's not my way of doing things.

I've called everyone 'mate' for like 30yrs.

Admittedly i sometimes use 'fella' on a guy if an extra bit of sincerity would be better (i don't seem to warrant a female equivalent). That came from my brother. I'm not sure if it's a good practice.
