if you already know the person it depends on them and the way you ask, if you don't know them and don't have a good speaking relationship that's not something to do.

It could be a totally harmless question based on observation, but it could also offend someone depending on the situation or how it was phrased. It's a confusing politically correct world nowadays, and people are way more touchy/sensitive these days!

A lot of official forms have a mixed race box for you to check if that's how you wish yourself to be identified as .

Turns out the brat's been asked quite a lot at school, and has asked for me to clarify the percentage segments. Whilst she looks mixed, it's probably a popular subject at school generally.
