@ 3mel - 7.02.18 - 12:31pm that's even more effort. I'm picturing the worst state people get into when psychotic. do you reckon they have calmer more rational days where they can organise their plans ? maybe |

@ tranie - 7.02.18 - 12:27pm i got the distinct impression at the time that most of his mental health problems were as a result of too much drink and drugs Did he not already have mental health problems when as a 10 year old he tortured and murdered a younger child? Or had he taken too much drink and drugs at the age of 10? |

@ boredofu - 7.02.18 - 01:12pm Did he not already have mental health problems when as a 10 year old he tortured and murdered a younger child? Or had he taken too much drink and drugs at the age of 10? tbh at the age of 10 i think he was too young to comprehend his actions, he was only about 2 months over what the law states to be criminally responsible. I think at the end of the day he is a messed up product of his actions as a 10 year old and his upbringing. |

@ boredofu - 7.02.18 - 02:55pm euthanasia the kindest option for him really then it could well be the kindest option for him and society considering this is his 2nd child porn offence in the last 7 or 8 years, coupled with his earlier actions, it is clear he is still a danger |

keeping him locked up where he cant hurt anyone would suffice,in my opinion

@ iilmadme - 7.02.18 - 03:08pm keeping him locked up where he cant hurt anyone would suffice,in my opinion It would but that won't happen. He's been sentenced to 40 months. A report used in court found venables was a high risk of real harm to children in the future and has a long-term and profound interest in children |

@ tranie - 7.02.18 - 02:39pm tbh at the age of 10 i think he was too young to comprehend his actions, he was only about 2 months over what the law states to be criminally responsible. I think at the end of the day he is a messed up product of his actions as a 10 year old and his upbringing. I can't agree with the first part of this. When you, I and most other people were 10 years old, we knew that those actions were wrong and we knew the consequences would be severe - both to ourselves and the victim and his family. What they did, combined with his compulsion to view explicit images of children, would suggest some form of abuse as a child - not necessarily sexual abuse. Being institutionalised at a young age and not being surrounded by things considered a normal part of growing up would also have a major effect. I am in no way trying to excuse anything he or his accomplice have done or will do - I'm of the opinion that they should, at the very least, be locked away forever - however, I do suspect that there's more to their childhoods, pre-murder, than has been made public. |
