She isn't the first person to wear a stars and stripes hijab. The first time it was done there was criticism that an actual flag had been used as a hijab. Apparently 'US flag code' rules state that using an american flag as apparel/clothing is not allowed. Items of clothing made to resemble it, or adorned with images/representations of it are fine though. Personally, I don't see anything wrong with the idea but I do wonder who it will upset the most, the anti-muslims or the islamic fundamentalists? |
