I was a missing child, kinda. I was 9 years old , I think. My extended family all went on vacation together. I was the odd kid out, all the other cousins were in the same age groups. I was too young for the older kids, but too old for the younger kids. So I was lonely. Imagine my delight when I found one of my class mates on the beach! Finally I had someone to hang out with. We went to the amusement park and to their hotel's pool with slides and stuff. We had so much fun. And later on I went looking for my mum, but she was gone. I couldn't find anyone. They left without me. Later on my class mate's dad drove me to the lodge we were staying at. I was safe with them and luckily I remembered the name of the lodge. This was before cellphones, so my mum had no idea. Apparently she went crazy when she couldn't find me on the beach. She didn't just flag down a police car, but ran right in front of it, so she could get them to help. She reported me as missing. She continued to look for me, with the police. When we got to the lodge, the family called the police to let them know that I was back. The police in turn told my mum, and soon we were reunited. It wasn't a big deal to me, I felt safe the entire time. I'm sure it must have been hell for my mum though. |

One time I was on vacation when half of the small city I lived in burned to the ground in a wildfire. Luckily it missed my neighborhood, but I guess you can imagine the tension we went through until we arrived home.

My Matric holiday started off with the worst ever sunburn. God, it was awful. The swelling was as thick as my finger next to the parts of my skin that wasn't burned. I had huge blisters in some areas. And after a day or so, the burned skin got tight and dry, so it would rip open in little bits when I got up. A very painful lesson was learned... Btw, a pharmacist recommended Voltaren Emulgel as treatment, it worked wonders. Now I recommend it to everyone.
