Russia will never be pro Western. The sooner the west gets that out of its head the better and perhaps things can move forward.

@ alanball - 17.02.24 - 09:42am Nalvany wasn't the beacon of hope the West portrayed him to be and the West also don't highlight how popular Putin is in Russia Is he really that popular, or are they just too scared to oppose him in any meaningful way as doing so is quite likely to get them carted off to a Siberian gulag, sent to the front lines in Ukraine, pushed out of an upstairs window/off a balcony to their deaths, fatally poisoned or simply beaten to death/shot in the back of the head? |

He's popular. The average Russian has a lot better life than they had when he took over. In the same time the quality of life in the UK has decreased loads and look at the huge majority the Gov that overseen that go in the previous GE. I'm not saying he's 87pc of the vote popular like the elections showed but he's certainly popular.

Cant underestimate the power of russian tv brainwashing either. The older ppl mostly believe hes the good guy fighting the empire of lies etc.

Propaganda is used everywhere in Russia, especially in education. The brainwashing starts from the second you learn to read.
