@ guyver - 24.07.14 - 10:45am what about your ancestors who lived through hell? suffered through slavery, holocaust, wars, depressions, poverty etc, just so you can fall ill and take your own life at the first opportunity? i dont think that is the human way, i dont think that is the human spirit. i think its a modern trend, where we have lost the value of life. we havent struggled like our ancestors did, we just enjoy all the fruits of their labour, born on their drugs to keep us numb all through life, shop at tesco, sit in front of a tv, then cant bear it when the drugs dont work anymore, and we start to wither away and actually feel something... we have this feeling of entitlement that makes us believe we can chose to live or not. where death is some sort of luxury or reward for your suffering. the future isnt looking good if humanity cant re-learn the value of life fk them, that was their choice. I felt nothing from this, i wasn't even born. |

i think if you learn your history, you would never moan again about your pain or suffering. i know i will die a painful excruciating death. just like all my ancestors. i accepted this at a young age. i inherited that pain and it is my destiny because its in my blood. maybe i should just kill myself now? .. or you could choose life |

history gets changed by mans hand though, and all the pain and suffering has brought us to such a free society now, eh guyver, the wars that was meant to give us freedom but the chains of terrorism bind us, with life comes death, no matter how you live you will always die, just some people can't grasp this ideology and moan about the past transgressions!! i think suicide is the cowards way out but if someone is in excruciating pain, then should it not be their right to die and save their anguish or should we just sit there and let them suffer, so their soul suffers more torment??

Euthanasia is a warm topic in the media, at the moment. There have been several high profile cases widely reported in recent weeks, including a Dutch ex-prime minister and the intentions of Dame Esther Rantzen. Kier Starmer has said that he's committed to holding a vote on it if he gets into No.10. Former England cricket captain, Ray Illingworth, has spoken of his support for assisted dying after watching his wife die from breast cancer. And Leeds man Paul Lamb, paralysed in a car crash in 1990, recently died after campaigning for decades for the right to end his life. On reflection, there's quite a lot of support for the right to die. There are people here who have to go to Dignitas in Switzerland for euthanasia, thanks to Swiss law, but it's terribly risky because UK law states that anyone helping them can be charged with assisting - and that's up to 14yrs in prison... |

In Finland, interestingly the medical staff most closest to actual terminal patients would actually vote against euthanasia.

Euthanasia should be legal everywhere.
