If the ancient civilisations like that of Egip, China, Greece and Rome didn't fade away do you think we would fly in spaceships now? They could have a glorious future ahead. I learnt history in school and on my own but i wonder why did they really die. What's the true reason? |

Every empire has had different reasons to fall, and since you listed 4 huge empires, I'm sure it would take a lot of explaining And nah, empires fell 'cause they weren't capable of sustaining, no glorious future at all.

They declined gradually to the point where there was no future at all, happened with all those ancient empires, eventually met their end after a successful long run...

And not just financially, the roman empire for example fell due to a combination of factors. There was corrupt and ineffective political leadership from the top, which opened the door for internal wars that weakened the Roman armies. These internal problems hurt the Roman Empire the most, but they weren't the sole factor. Both of these Empires faced intense foreign invasions. The Romans found themselves under attack by the Vandals, Goths, Franks, Burgundians, Saxons, and Huns.

These external pressures finally ended the political existence of the Roman empire. Ancient Egypt had now different reasons to fall, not just due to financial reason... Though it was a huge aspect due to the the economic crises following Ramses III raids in Syria, however the decline was also due to The murder of Ramses III on the hands of the rebels who controlled Southern Egypt, their lack of unity, and not to mention being conquired by the Greeks, the Romans, and the Assyrians and Persians.

What about the Aztecs and the Incas? They were very advanced too. Most advanced empires fell. Are we all heading in the same direction

@ maberry - 2.08.13 - 02:52pm true but if all these didn't happen and if the continued for another 2000 years with maths formulas and astrology and meanwhile DaVincy was borned, Kopernic and many many others that were geniuses and contributed to science where would we be now? Their legacy lives on.. We're pretty advanced ourselves too. The EU can be seen as the revival of the Roman Empire. Sure empires change but the Roman Empire's legacy still lives on. Italian, Spanish, French, Portuguese and Romanian are all descended from Latin. The Greeks may be heavily indebted but they're still going. The ancient Egyptians live on through the Copts of present day Egypt. What happened to the Incas and Aztecs was very unfortunate, |

large civilizations lose the ability of adaption . the oldest of tribes theses days tend to be nomadic types . adaption is vital because .... welcom to earth a spining molton lump of iron with a churning crust covered in churning waters surrounded with churning gases that spins round a star ..... the environment is constantly changing
