hell has long been used as the passive aggressive proverbial stick to the carrot, by religions to their followers, to make them obedient, and then by the followers to the people who don't follow, as a defence mechanism of self perceived superiority, as no rational argument can back religious beliefs up. But as Isaac Asimov said ''Imagine the people who believe such things and who are not ashamed to ignore, totally, all the patient findings of thinking minds through all the centuries since the Bible was written. And it is these ignorant people, the most uneducated, the most unimaginative, the most unthinking among us, who would make themselves the guides and leaders of us all; who would force their feeble and childish beliefs on us; who would invade our schools and libraries and homes. I personally resent it bitterly.'' He also said ''There is no belief, however foolish, that will not gather its faithful adherents who will defend it to the death.'' |

A great man, and I'd recommend anyone to read one of his books over their religious ones, if they want to learn something

It wasn't that long ago that we in England could be put to death for blasphemy, or corporal punishment, imprisonment, or a fine. The last man to be sent to prison for blasphemy was John William Gott. In 1922 he was sentenced to nine months' hard labour for comparing Jesus with a circus clown. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/3753408.stm In some less evolved countries it still is punishable by death. we are lucky we are allowed to think and speak for ourselves, free from the dictatorship of out dated religious beliefs, crazy world hey. |

But where is your proof? Worshipping someone does not authenticate them.
