i dont know because the thought of heaven is too painful. how can you face people who have been dead and gone out of your life for X amount of years? we all know death can come when you least expect it, so some people passed away and things might not have been on good terms between you.. you might not have spent as much time with them as you wished you would if you knew they were going to die.. so that feeling of regret lingers with you throughout your life and you accept it as the unfairness of death.. maybe even the beauty of death, as it is those experiences that make you learn to appreciate what you have here, in your life, and learn to share the 'now' with those still here, as to not repeat the mistakes of the past- taking lives of others for granted. i suppose you could argue you wont feel any feelings of guilt when seeing them again, you wont feel regret.. since those destructive thoughts/emotions would have no purpose or place in a divine paradise... i dont really want to entertain the thought of what it could be like because it feels like its just teasing myself with fantasies. some fantasies can be enjoyable and even beneficial, but one which involves the dead being alive again is too painful for me. i think there is a cruel 'beauty' to death... it teaches you true value of life. a value that is made redundant by an infinite afterlife. |

I'm not sure what's beyond, but I know there is a beyond. The strange thing for me personally is I'd be fine with ultimate death, more often than not it's something I'd prefer, but I know it's not the case. I couldn't explain the feeling with a hundred years to burn, but this physical life isn't the end for any of us.

the souls journey from life form to life form has no sense of time as we are taught to, no beginning and no end. personally heaven to me is a tranquility that the soul searches for, an equilibrium. its said heaven is man made, but i feel heaven is just another name for inner peace.

There is a book by Richard Matheson (he also wrote the book I Am Legend) called What Dreams May Come. I like the ideas he had of the afterlife in that.. There is a type of Heaven and a type of Hell. But the Hell is more of a self imposed punishment? Purgatory is a kind of place where you are unaware or unwilling to recognize that you are even dead.. You're stuck in a dreary version of reality where nothing ever happens etc.
