Just for PC SUITE, have brought a XP PRO SP2 cd... Now I want a upgrade, not full installation... So do I have to back up all my hard disk data?... Do I have to make a backup of the drivers?.... |

@nikhil... That means the hard disk will be formatted during upgradation?... (N.B. I'm not going to fully install, will just upgrade)....

Boot from cd if I'm not wrong then you'll get option to install select it then custom or update. Select update. I had done it for windows 7 on a laptop. I'm not sure though with xp

@shri.... Yes m8... I'm also hoping to get an option of UPGRADE... But I'm not sure whether it will erase all the data in my C, D and E drive... Also not sure whether I will need to install all the drivers again... Coz I dont have the drivers CD with me...

No the hard drive data might not get wiped by upgradation. Unless you made a clean install on up hard disk. But this option will not effect your other partition like d, e, f, respectively but c drive would wipe in clean install.

Upgrade will not delete any data. You can also upgrade without rebooting. But I prefer clean install. Just backup your data in C drive and make a clean install. Upgrade often leaves lots of unnecessary files.

I would suggest a dual boot
