Yes... The one I've made for FM reception is Yagi-Uda with 4 directors and a reflector..... And I've made another VHF Yagi-Uda antenna for my TV which has 16 directors and a reflector....... Both are working beyond my expectations.... Once I built a DB4 antenna for UHF but Yagi-Uda is the best......

The higher the frequency to be received, the smaller the dipole length.... For example, to receive a 89MHz FM transmission, the dipole length will be 64inches.... And for a 220MHz VHF transmission, the dipole should be 26inches long..... Every inches make a huge difference in bandwidth.....

The conversation is heading towards tech.... Sorry for that.... But, @kart.... How did u measure the gain of the antenna?....

And another important info.... Almost all TV transmitters transmit horizontal frequencies, thats why we place the antenna in horizontal position..... But cellphone and FM transmitters transmit vertical frequencies, that means the antenna position should be vertical.....

U cant measure on its own... charecteristics varies so s gain of a dish due to frequency received n polarity

To measure how good s an antenna look for its swr or bw swr can be calc by directive coupler which s the back n forth ratio i think. u need som equipment lik bird wattmeter

Very nice topics are being made that will help the newbie like me.So far i know antena both horizontal or vertical doest play an effective role if the signal strength is remain weak or user remain out site of transmitting area.Once i used booster to enhance my tv signal but that caused damage to my costly tv.From that time it has become a panic in my mind that use of any extra component is not wise if the system doesnt support and that may cause unwanted or unexpected troubles idea. Thanks
