Custom firmwares can hack those devices which were unhackable. It even boosts your phone performance. Overclock your cpu. Enhance user interface, install some cool and unique apps like rom patcher with cool patches. Remove stock useless apps can add features like conversation in messaging. And much more.

Original stock firmwares are just original which you receive out of box and when you update your software. They are good and in most cases are bugfree.

For me it is definitely Custom Firmware, Currently I'm using Unleashed Tribute 5800-C6 for my nokia 5800 with is sick.

This firmware has theme effects, n8 menu and media bar icons. It is faster that the original firmware. It has every feature the c6 firm ware has including message reader which also come with the option of you choosing between a woman's and man's voice to read you message. Customize shut down and start up image and sound.

The main draw backs are that the ram is less and the firmware consume alot more battery. But it is o.k other wise,
