is from whatsapp directly ? if not get the latest version from them and make sure to install it on phone memory... outside of that, I can't think of anything !

make sure you have credit on your phone for whatsapp reply via SMS for phone number confirmation. whatsapp send it self a text message to confirm your phone number

If you contact the person by phone and ask them to add your phone number to their list then you should recieve a text message saying you are now on whatsapp.
