A squad worth more than the one he inherited yet he managed to take that poor squad onto a champions league win. The squad he built after that managed a 7th place finish which cost him his job. From 2nd to 7th would be unforgivable in the eyes of any set of fans but not the Liverpool fans who are happy to blame the board.

He spent nearly 300m on 79 players but most of them were youth? fk yous must have some serious wonderkids in the reserves and youth set ups

It's not just his transfer dealings. The football played was mostly dire. Too defensive minded and more concerned with getting beaten than winning, or so it seemed.

Silver, the thing is that the media in general are baffled by the show of support for Rafa, both before his departure and since. The argument that many fans are too focused on getting the owners out doesn't wash.

How many of these youngsters actually get a chance in the side? Is there a Liverpool player aged 21 or under with even twenty games to his name? You'd think a manager with his hands tied in the transfer market to the extent FSW was would put more faith in youth.
