i need alternative xp drivers for my cd/dvd drive.is there some hacked driver or a non-microsoft unofficial version.a driver from microsoft will do as well,as long as its not standard one.i have this problem on xp sp3 and xp sp2 on two different machines,the problem is gone using vista,my cd/dvd drive has problems reading custom made media,both cd and dvd,even those not burned by me. |

theres no such thing unless the manufacturer of the drive supplys them, all dvd/cd's have the same standard format denoted by the disks speed x1 is 10.8Mbps while 24x is 259.2Mbps they dont have standard and nonstandard block sizes like hdds and can only be formatted 1 way DEFAULT SPEED (as the disk is labled) so in essence a x4 speed disk is formatted the same way as a x24 speed disk the x24 just

so what you need to do is google....'' drive name'' dvd driver i just did for samsung and it gave me lots of results for xp whql drivers...

but what you will find is that the drivers although drive specific are actualy the same as the 1s microsoft updater installs.

yeah i get that,i just need different drivers.maybe a stupid question,but the best i ve found is a firmware update for NEC CB1100A but i have NEC CB1100B,will this work?also my cd/dvd drive can read any valid disk after few attempts.it aint a hardware problem scence the same happens with completely different and newer DVD-RAM drive

My combo drive ,brand LITE ON , started 2 create issues like some time read dvd but sumtime show blank ,one more thing i hav already upgraded d firmware ver 2 latest one, may be changing an OS is a quick idea 2 inspect it first .
