no hes talking about the windows 8.1 preview update yrucing which became available for download free as from the 26th of this month in the uk. it brings back the start button, although dont expect it to have the same functionality as it does in windows 7. by all accounts it just takes you to the start screen, otherwise known as metro, which is where everyone doesnt want to go

to download it you have to go to the windows 8.1 preview page (google it) and click 'get it now' and you will download a windows patch which once installed allows you to go to the windows store to download windows 8.1. there are no ISO files available yet according top microsoft. its a fully functional preview, according to microsoft there will be more updates available during 2013, but by the latter half of the year everyone that wants the full version of windows 8.1 should have it by then. this is to give you an idea of whats to come. tech radar tested windows 8.1 preview and claimed that

tech radar tested windows 8.1 preview and claimed it had more snappy performance. microsoft say all future updates will arrive in the same fashion apple releases new versions of OSX, meaning there will be no more service packs.

the pw did title the post windows 8.l did you not notice that? it does exist its not in his imagination! Its just that its not available via the windows update service according to microsoft. But then previews usually aren't.
